About CCBulls

CCBulls consists of me, Hilde Rabben, and my small pack of American Bulldogs. I am very interested and engaged in dogs, especially the American Bulldog (AB).

My beginning as a dog owner started a bit dramatically during an evening in 1997, when I was unexpectantly given a mixed breed puppy in my hands with a message that it would be killed if I declined taking it. Since my childhood involved me driving my mom crazy with bringing home stray cats, I was then unexpectedly the owner to a mixed dog I named Gizmo. Some years later, I was looking for my next dog and was considering many breeds until I met my first American Bulldog in the year 2000 and of course fell instantly in love. After this, I searched all the information I could find on the internet, and soon discovered that this breed could fit perfectly for me who wanted to engage in many types of dog sports. After a year of waiting my AB puppy Malika finally arrived.

After this, my interest for dogs grew to unexpected heights! In 2002, a year’s education in the dog profession was completed and ever since, I have been working as a dog instructor mainly in everyday obedience, competition obedience, rally obedience and agility. My engagement in dog training is comprehensive – my dogs have been trained in; search and rescue, obedience, search, freestyle, weight-pulling and rally. So far, we competed a little in obedience an weight-pulling, but mostly in rally. The interest for dogs and dog langue also extend to the wolf – I have been privileged on multiple occasions meeting the wolf packs in Kålmården Zoo.

In the start of my time as an AB owner, it was difficult to find others in Norway with a similar interest in breeding. This led to me finding and becoming part of a group with Mari Furunes and Thomas Nicolaysen. Through enthusiastic hard work, we founded the American Bulldog Club of Norway (ABKN). Our goals aimed for that breeding enthusiasts would have a natural meeting point so we could create and set demands for healthy breeding. These contributions led to the quality of the ABKN’s breeds’ future, preservation of its good temperament, and securing that only individual dogs with good health was used in breeding. After this, I was the president of ABKN for 10 years until I withdrew from the board in 2014, and in the committee for breeding until I withdrew in 2017.

It was not before my third AB bitch Blocky Bulldogs Looks that Kill aka Blenda grew up, I saw that I had a bitch who after my wishing was wordy of breeding. In my perfect dog world, all planned litters must be met with the goal of adding something good to the breed and expectedly be an improvement to the breed. This is only possible after a thorough consideration of the combination of the breeding stock in mentality, documented health status and work ability.
